NEI-LSOCA Film and Digital Color Image Comparison |
|
The NEI-LSOCA study and the UW FPRC have embarked on a program to evaluate the possible use of digital images in the evaluation of CMV retinitis. This will require each photographer at current LSOCA sites wishing to participate to send images of the same patient using film and digital color images. The “LSOCA Imaging Procedures” is a PDF document containing all the UW-FPRC documents related to NEI-LSOCA digital imaging including shipping and labeling information. Within this document are the “UW-FPRC Photographer Certification Request Form” and the “UW-FPRC Color Digital System Certification Request Form”. The UW-FPRC requires that all photographers be certified for taking these images. The procedures used for digital images will be the UW-FPRC’s 9 standard field color photography and fundus reflex procedure, which will be imaged digitally (9-std-D) and on 35 mm film (9 std-F). Details of these procedures can be found in the “LSOCA Imaging Procedures” document. Any digital system to be used for digital color or angiogram images must be certified, as well as the photographer for this study. Digital System Certification. Each digital system that will be used for digital LSOCA images must be certified. A “UW-FPRC Digital System Certification Request Form” should be filled out for each system and sent to the FPRC with the materials required for certification. Review the details in the “LSOCA Imaging Procedures” document. Photographer Certification. All photographers are required to submit a “UW-FPRC Photographer Certification Form”. The completed form should be sent to the UW-FPRC with any necessary certification materials. Review the details in the “LSOCA Imaging Procedures” document, Section 1-Photographer Certification, to determine if certification materials are required.
